Peer Mentorship
The organization is looking for spinal cord injury (SCI) survivors, caregivers, family members, or friends to join their team of volunteers. They have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, including a peer mentor program.
To volunteer or learn more about becoming a peer mentor, you can contact the organization directly at 315-751-4682.
Peer mentors are trained to provide support and valuable information to newly injured SCI patients. Many of the organization’s board members are certified as Peer Mentors through the Dana and Christopher Reeve Foundation. These volunteer mentors work in partnership with Upstate Medical University to assist patients.

Quality of Life Grant
We are proud to offer our Quality of Life Grant as one of the best ways we can serve the spinal cord injury (SCI) community. This grant provides financial assistance for items that are not covered by insurance but are essential for improving the quality of life for individuals with a spinal cord disability.
What the Grant Covers
- Durable medical equipment
- Home modifications (e.g., ramps, widening doors)
- Other medical supplies not covered by insurance
Eligibility and Availability
Funds for this grant are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis for those with a demonstrated financial need.
We believe that all people with disabilities have the power to embrace their identity, define their future, and change the world.

Enhances Lives
Ultimately, life is short. The best thing to do is to experience as much as you can in the time you are here. Despite your spinal cord injury, I believe you are still meant for great things. Believe in yourself too!
